Self–Enhancement and service for the society

Sri Sarada College of Education

Sri Sarada College of Education, Ulundurpet, is a residential institution offering B.Ed course exclusively for women and is affiliated to Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University. The college is ably managed by the sanyasin sisters of Sri Sarada Ashram, Ulundurpet, who have dedicated their whole life to provide Value based Education for National Renaissance as envisaged by the great visionary, Swami Vivekananda.

In the present scenario, we are finding a tremendous growth in terms of science and technology. But the vital question arises as to whether we are training the minds and hearts of individuals to cope with the material growth. As the National Education Commission 1964-66 headed by Dr. D.S. Kothari rightly envisages unless there is a proper mingling of 'science and spirituality' in the educational transactions, it will be highly doubtful to accomplish the ultimate objectives of education, interms of development of holistic personality, enhancing the right kind of perception, enriching the discriminative power and judgemental capabilities whenever and wherever problems are encountered and finally arriving at the desirable behavioural pattern with corresponding attitudinal shift.

In this context, the material and human resources of this institution with a missionary goal of “self – enhancement and service for the society” are tuned and accordingly the structure of the building with spacious and well ventilated class-rooms, library, laboratories, play-grounds are designed with utmost precision. The teaching and non-teaching members of the staff are selected carefully as their primary aim is commitment, conviction and concern for their profession and for their students.

The academic activities of the college are thoughtfully designed for the all-round development of the students in terms of enriching physical well-being, maintaining mental health, sublimating emotional disorders, enhancing social adjustment and focusing spiritual vision.

In sum, this institution is structured in all aspects to become a second home and the teachers are moulded in such a way as to become a bridge between the home and the society as the experience provided not only caters to 'Education for learning' but far sighted objective 'Education for Living'.
